Hardware-backed security at global scale: Confidential G4 with NVIDIA Blackwell is GA
Google Cloud has launched Confidential G4 instances, a significant advancement in securing artificial intelligence workloads. These instances, powered by NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server edition GPUs, offer confidential computing capabilities. This means sensitive data and intellectual property processed by autonomous agents are protected in real time. The technology integrates NVIDIA Confidential Computing into Google Cloud's AI Hypercomputer, ensuring privacy during computation without sacrificing performance. Confidential G4 instances are now generally available across numerous zones, supporting various consumption models on Compute Engine VMs and GKE nodes. Support for Confidential Space, enabling secure multi-party data sharing, is also rolling out soon. Confidential G4 instances utilize hardware-based security features like non-exportable keys, remote attestation, and memory encryption. This allows organizations to meet strict regulatory requirements and maintain cost-efficiency. The solution provides end-to-end confidentiality, isolating data and model parameters from host administrators and cloud providers. Verifiable cryptographic trust is established through hardware-rooted remote attestation, ensuring integrity before sensitive operations commence. Crucially, no code refactoring is necessary for deployment, simplifying the adoption process. Performance testing indicates that Confidential G4 instances offer throughput comparable to standard G4 instances, with minimal performance degradation. This advancement empowers enterprises to scale AI deployments securely, maintaining control, confidentiality, and accountability over their valuable AI assets.
