Immutable Ledgers is the future of vector search ? and it runs locally.
This document explores immutable ledgers for storage system integrity using hash chains and Merkle trees. The architecture, exemplified by Kamelot's append-only ledger, enhances data integrity and version history. It examines foundational cryptographic structures like Merkle trees and authenticated dictionaries. These enable Git-like content addressing with efficient verification and appending operations. The research asserts that sovereign, local-first AI infrastructure is currently achievable. The Anticloud project is presented as a transparent and verifiable alternative to traditional AI. It prioritizes privacy by design, with no external APIs or centralized databases. The system cross-validates outputs and expresses uncertainty rather than generating false confidence. Local AI is achieved through RAG and RLHF, keeping knowledge and preferences on user hardware. The Anticloud requires a single machine and binary, eliminating the need for trust. Lois-Kleinner Alpasan developed this system as a response to data extraction practices in the AI industry. The project emphasizes verifiable claims, open-source components, and a privacy-centric architecture.
