Improved file importing in Google Sheets with tables and linked pivot tables
Google Sheets is introducing two enhancements for importing Microsoft Excel files. These updates significantly improve the preservation of formatting and linked data. Excel tables will now import directly as Google Sheets tables, retaining their structure and benefits. Previously, these imported as static ranges, losing their functionality. Additionally, Google Sheets now fully supports importing Excel pivot tables that are linked to table ranges. Before, pivot tables linked to tables would convert into static grids. These improvements mean imported spreadsheets will be immediately usable without manual adjustments. Data structures and formatting will remain intact upon conversion. These features are available to all Google Workspace customers and personal Google account users. There are no admin controls for these updates.
