Google Calendar is enhancing the experience of joining third-party video meetings like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Cisco Webex. When sending invitations with external video links, Google Calendar now places the conferencing URL directly in the event's Location field. This change makes it easier for recipients using clients like Outlook or Apple Calendar to join calls with a single click. For incoming invitations from external systems, Google Calendar will now intelligently extract meeting URLs, IDs, and passcodes. These details will then be presented as a prominent "Join video call" button within Google Calendar on web and mobile. This addresses the prior inconvenience of manually copying and pasting meeting information. These improvements aim to create a more seamless and effortless meeting-joining process for users collaborating across different platforms. The feature is enabled by default for all users and does not require admin configuration. It will be available for all Google Workspace editions and personal Google accounts. The rollout began on August 27, 2026, with an extended distribution period.
