Google is launching Gem sharing, allowing users to share customized Gemini AI "Gems" within and beyond their organizations. These Gems are specialized AI versions, tailored to specific topics and tasks, aiming to improve efficiency. Users can edit, use, or copy shared Gems, much like sharing Google Docs. Admins can control Gems sharing via a new setting in the Admin console. This feature targets both admins and end users, promoting AI adoption and collaboration. Sharing pre-built Gems saves time and fosters innovation by leveraging existing prompts. Only Gems with uploaded files or files from Google Drive are shareable. Shared Gems are stored in Google Drive, and content permissions must be considered. The sharing setting is enabled by default, but can be disabled by admins. Sharing controls align with existing organization's Drive settings. This feature is available for various Google Workspace editions and add-ons.
