Introducing the board tab in Google Chat

Google Chat is introducing a new feature called "board" which can be thought of as a virtual bulletin board that helps teams communicate and collaborate more effectively. The board allows users to pin and share important messages, files, and links for quick access, and also provides intelligent suggestions to quickly find and add relevant resources. This feature helps teams stay focused and reduces context-switching by gathering relevant assets in a consistent and accessible location. The board can be used for common tasks such as maintaining a single source of truth for project-related files and resources, or providing a location for new team members to quickly find resources. The board is available to all users in a conversation and can be accessed by clicking on the board tab, which opens a dedicated right panel displaying the board alongside the message stream. By default, all users can pin, add resources, edit, and delete information from the board, except in announcement spaces where only space managers can edit. Space managers can restrict board modification access for spaces, and managers can change the default settings to allow all members to edit the board. The board features sections for pinned messages and pinned resources, and users can visit the Help Center to learn more about the feature. The rollout of the feature will start on February 13, 2025, for Rapid Release domains and on March 3, 2025, for Scheduled Release domains. The feature will be available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts.
