iPhone owners could get up to $95 after Apple settles AI lawsuit for $250 million

Follow
Apple settled a class-action lawsuit for $250 million regarding false advertising of its AI capabilities for the iPhone. The lawsuit stemmed from marketing campaigns promoting Siri's new AI features for the iPhone 16 in 2024. These features, touted as "Apple Intelligence", were not available at the time of purchase. The settlement covers approximately 37 million devices bought in the US between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. Eligible device owners, including all iPhone 16 models and iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max, are set to receive payments. The minimum payment is $25 per device, potentially rising to $95 based on claim numbers and other factors. Consumers were misled into buying devices based on unavailable enhanced Siri capabilities. The company will notify customers via email or mail about filing claims on a specific website. Apple's AI features are still under development while competitors like Google and Samsung have launched similar technologies. The delayed release of the Siri upgrade caused consumer frustration. Apple plans to unveil the Siri upgrade this year, likely at its annual developer conference.
