Iran Submits Conditions For Ending War With US Via Qatar, Awaits Trump Response
Iran has submitted its conditions to end the war with the United States through Qatar and is awaiting a response from the Trump administration. Supreme National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei stated that these conditions include ending the conflict on all fronts, releasing frozen assets, and lifting naval blockades. He warned that Iran is prepared for a decisive war if Washington does not comply. Rezaei believes Iran's strategy toward Washington has shifted after the US withdrawal from a memorandum of understanding. He criticized US and Israeli calculations regarding the conflict, attributing its instigation to Netanyahu. Rezaei asserted Iran's awareness of US military vulnerabilities and its readiness to counter air strikes, noting a recent anti-ship missile test. He reiterated Iran's commitment to defense, threatening to strike US bases and interests if attacked. Meanwhile, President Trump dismissed criticism of the Middle East involvement, citing the potential for Iran to obtain nuclear weapons as a justification. Iran, however, continues to signal it is not pursuing nuclear weapons, though Rezaei hinted at a potential withdrawal from the nuclear non-proliferation treaty depending on US behavior. He also suggested a broader US-Iran deal could facilitate a peace settlement in the escalating Saudi-Yemen war, noting Iran's increased leverage due to Houthi advances near the Bab Al-Mandab Strait.
