Johnson & Johnson reveals 2025 sales forecast and plans for its orthopedics business
Johnson & Johnson (J&J) increased its 2025 sales forecast after exceeding Wall Street's earnings projections. The healthcare giant's updated product revenue expectation is between $93.5 and $93.9 billion. J&J also revealed plans to spin off its orthopedics business, DePuy Synthes, within 18 to 24 months. This orthopedics unit generated approximately $9.2 billion in revenue last year. The company previously spun off its consumer health unit into Kenvue in 2023. J&J intends to focus on high-growth sectors like oncology and immunology after the separation. The company is considering a tax-free spin-off as the primary method of separation. J&J believes the orthopedics unit's future innovation is better suited elsewhere. The company's third-quarter sales and adjusted earnings also surpassed expectations. Pharmaceutical and medical device sales experienced growth, with oncology products performing strongly.
