Join Google Meet calls from Safari on iOS devices

iOS users can now join Google Meet calls directly through the Safari browser without needing to install dedicated apps like Gmail or Meet. This update simplifies participation for those who previously lacked the necessary applications on their mobile devices. Previously, having the Gmail or Meet app was a prerequisite for joining sessions on iOS. Now, when an iOS user without these apps clicks a Meet link, they are seamlessly redirected to Safari. Users without a Google account can easily join by simply entering their name. An animation illustrates this by showing an iPhone user clicking a Meet link and joining instantly via Safari. This feature is automatically enabled for end users when they attempt to join a meeting without the apps. There are no specific admin controls for this functionality. The rollout began on June 23, 2026, and may take longer than 15 days for full visibility. This enhancement is available to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google accounts.
