Archaeological excavations near Baden, Austria, revealed evidence of a Copper Age civilization, leading to the term "Baden culture." These discoveries included artifacts spanning various prehistoric periods and even Roman times. The "Baden culture" name was formally established in 1956 by archaeologist Janos Banner. The geologically significant site, featuring a large boulder, has been a natural monument since 1973. It is also a popular spot for bouldering. A local legend attributes the formation of the cave and boulder to a contest between the devil and God. The devil, attempting to display his strength by balancing the boulder on his head, was challenged by God. God then effortlessly lifted the boulder onto his little finger and placed it in its current location. The blinded and shamed devil fled into the newly formed cave. This cave features a hole in its ceiling, through which the sky is visible. The legend suggests one can still see where the devil's head and God's finger were.
