The FDA has issued a recall for Lactaid milk due to the potential presence of undeclared almond, which can cause serious or life-threatening allergic reactions in individuals with almond allergies or sensitivities. No illnesses have been reported so far. Lactaid is a brand of lactose-free milk made from dairy with the addition of the lactase enzyme. The recall affects a limited number of 96-oz plastic containers of refrigerated Lactaid milk from HP Hood with expiration dates in November and December 2024. The recalled products include whole milk, 1% milk, 2% milk, fat-free milk, and calcium-enriched milk. The affected containers were shipped to retailers and wholesalers in 27 states in the first half of September. HP Hood is an independently owned private company that distributes Hood brand milk and non-dairy products, including Lactaid and Almond Breeze almond milk. Consumers can return the products to the retail locations where they were purchased for a full refund or exchange, or call Hood Consumer Affairs at (800) 242-2423. The issue was discovered during routine maintenance programs.
