Maduro Would Be 'Smart' To Get Out, Trump Says, As Russia Reportedly Evacuating Diplomats' Families

Kristi Noem initially stated that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro should step down. President Trump later echoed this sentiment, suggesting it would be wise for Maduro to leave power. Trump confirmed the deployment of a large naval force near Venezuela, partially to enforce an oil blockade. He implied that any resistance from Maduro would be met with consequences. Russia continues to publicly support Maduro's government, expressing solidarity with its ally. Reports emerged, however, suggesting Russia had begun evacuating diplomats' families from Venezuela. The Russian Foreign Ministry denied an embassy evacuation, labeling the reports as Western provocation. Despite strong rhetoric, there's little evidence Putin plans concrete action to defend Maduro. Russia previously warned the US against military intervention, threatening "unpredictable consequences." Trump has made clear his intention to oust Maduro. Moscow's threats are viewed as unlikely to result in real action.
