Google Workspace Updates

Manage Apple Intelligence Writing Tools in Google Workspace iOS apps

Google is introducing a new administrative control for Google Workspace admins. This control allows admins to disable Apple Intelligence Writing Tools within Google Workspace apps on iOS devices. Apple's Writing Tools, like proofreading and summarizing, are part of Apple Intelligence in iOS 18.1 and later. The new setting aims to bolster data protection and manage potential data loss risks. Admins can now prevent users from accessing these tools in supported Google apps. The setting, "Allow Writing Tools for work data," is enabled by default, requiring admins to disable it for restrictions. Changes to the setting should propagate within 24 hours, generally faster. Participating apps encompass Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, and Chat. This feature works for both basic and advanced mobile management. The setting is available for various Google Workspace editions.
