Google Calendar now offers protection against spam and unwanted invitations through a new blocking feature. Blocking a user automatically removes current events from them and prevents future invitations. This action adds the user to an account-wide blocklist, extending the block across all supported Google products. Conversely, blocking someone in another Google product will also block their Calendar invitations. The feature is specifically for blocking Google account users. To block non-Google Calendar users, use Gmail's blocking functionality, which will stop all their emails, including those creating events. There are no admin controls for this feature; end users can access the Help Center for more information. The rollout for Rapid and Scheduled Release domains begins on August 18, 2026, with a gradual release over 15 days. This feature is available to all Google Workspace customers and Workspace Individual subscribers. Resources are available in the Google Calendar, Gmail, and Google Account Help Centers.
