Marketing automation with built‑in analytics in Herald
Indie developers struggle to track the audience reach of automatically generated blog posts and social media content. Herald addresses this by integrating Umami analytics directly into its published posts, providing essential engagement metrics. This solution involves embedding a lightweight analytics script into articles published on platforms like Dev.to or Medium. Page views, referrers, and user interactions are then recorded and displayed within the Herald dashboard. The system's backend, built with FastAPI, exposes an endpoint to record these analytics events. The frontend, a React application, injects the Umami script, which automatically reports page views to the Herald analytics endpoint. A Celery worker then aggregates these view records, updating content metrics in near real-time. This allows developers to see which AI-generated posts perform best and adjust their content calendar accordingly. The integration is optional and respects user privacy, as all data remains within Herald's stack. This feature empowers developers to make data-driven decisions about their marketing automation efforts, optimizing content without requiring a dedicated marketer.
