Microsoft Office Is Now 'Microsoft 365 Copilot App'

Microsoft is rebranding Office to the "Microsoft 365 Copilot app," which includes AI functionality. This change, noticed by a user, replaces the familiar "Office" name with a new focus on Copilot. The author points out the irony of this, given Office's widespread recognition and revenue generation. The original Office name has deep history, predating even Corsair, a successful hardware company. Corsair previously attempted a poorly-received rebranding and reverted to its original logo due to negative feedback. Microsoft had already moved away from the Office name with cloud-based services being renamed from Office 365 to Microsoft 365. The author questions the necessity and logic of this rebranding, especially given the success of Office. The author suggests Microsoft may eventually rebrand Windows to incorporate Copilot, reflecting a broader AI focus. Copilot functions as both a launcher and an AI assistant within Microsoft's apps.
