Microsoft Says Windows 11 Is Now 'More Responsive', Runs Better On 8GB of RAM

Microsoft has released Windows 11 updates that enhance system responsiveness by up to 20%. These improvements stem from more efficient memory management and reduced background resource consumption. The company has focused on ensuring more of the PC's resources are dedicated to active tasks. These memory management enhancements significantly benefit PCs with as little as 8GB of RAM. Windows can now retain up to 2GB more active data in memory, preventing slower storage transfers. For instance, on devices with 8GB of RAM or less, Widgets only load upon opening, freeing up over 200MB for applications. The updates also include less disruptive Windows Updates, a cleaner Widgets section, and the ability to move the taskbar to the top or sides. Additionally, Windows Hello sign-in times have been reduced, and Bluetooth pairing, including for AirPods, is more reliable and faster. A forthcoming Windows Search overhaul promises greater speed and capability, with broader availability expected later this year.
