Modernizing perimeter security: Scalable perimeters with VPC Service Controls

Autonomous agents in cloud operations present new security challenges due to their non-human identity and ability to act at scale. Traditional network perimeters are insufficient against machine-speed attacks and can be too restrictive or permissive. Enhanced VPC Service Controls (VPC-SC) now offer easier perimeter creation, maintenance, and scaling. Folder membership in VPC-SC allows projects within folders to inherit security policies automatically. Granular exceptions and guided remediation for denied access are now available. This ensures data is protected by default, enabling the scaling of autonomous agents securely. VPC-SC provides context-aware network security perimeters against data theft and insider threats. Folder and organization support in ingress/egress rules simplifies management and keeps rules concise. Private Service Connect endpoints can now be used in ingress/egress rules for more precise policy authoring. Granular control over Google API access is offered through service patterns, allowing specific URL patterns. Guided violation remediation streamlines the process of authorizing legitimate access requests, reducing resolution time significantly.
