Monitor your databases on Compute Engine with Database Center
Database Center, an AI-powered fleet management solution, now extends its capabilities to monitor self-managed MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server databases running on Google Compute Engine. This expansion provides a unified view of both managed and self-managed database environments from a single interface. The service can proactively detect common security vulnerabilities in these self-managed databases, such as outdated minor versions, disabled auditing, broad IP access, missing root passwords, and unencrypted connections. To enable this monitoring, a lightweight VM agent needs to be installed on the Compute Engine instances. New alerting features allow users to receive notifications for newly provisioned database resources and newly detected issues across all supported databases. Usability enhancements include folder-level conversational capabilities powered by Gemini for easier management in complex environments. The historical comparison feature has been expanded to offer comparisons over 1, 7, and 30-day periods for database inventory and detected issues. These upgrades aim to provide a more comprehensive, intelligent, and proactive database management experience, improving security posture and simplifying compliance. Database Center is available at no additional cost to Google Cloud customers. Early access is available for monitoring databases hosted on Compute Engine.
