New admin controls are being introduced for Workspace Studio steps and starters. These controls allow admins to specify which steps and starters users in their organization can utilize. Admins can manage access based on Workspace service or on an individual basis. This provides greater control over Studio features. The new controls are especially helpful for a phased introduction of Studio within organizations. By default, Studio starters and steps are enabled, but admins can disable them. The feature can be managed at the domain, organizational unit, and group levels. End-users will see disabled steps as greyed out. Existing flows using disabled steps will fail, displaying an error message. The rollout will begin on May 26, 2026, for both Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. The feature is available to various Google Workspace editions. Resources for admins and end-users are provided, including Help Center articles, the Learning Center, YouTube, and Discord.
