Google Workspace Updates

More user control for “Take notes for me” in Google Meet

Google Meet is introducing a new setting for meeting hosts regarding the "Take notes for me" feature. Previously, hosts had to manually enable this automated note-taking during call scheduling or the meeting itself. Now, users can opt to have "Take notes for me" start automatically whenever they host a meeting. This new toggle is off by default and can be enabled or disabled by users at any time in their Google Meet settings. Admins also have control to enable or disable AI note-taking for their users. The ability for hosts and select participants to turn off meeting notes during a call remains unchanged. This feature will begin rolling out to Rapid Release domains on January 8, 2026, and to Scheduled Release domains on January 22, 2026. The rollout will be gradual for Rapid Release domains, taking up to 15 days for feature visibility. Scheduled Release domains will see a full rollout within 1-3 days. This feature is available for specific Google Workspace editions and education plans.
