Nearly 72% of Americans have this health complaint, new CDC report finds

Most Americans experience fatigue regularly, a phenomenon distinct from simple sleepiness. A study from the National Center for Health Statistics found that 71.5% of U.S. adults feel fatigue several times within a three-month span. Fatigue is defined as physical or mental exhaustion that doesn't improve with rest. Those experiencing regular fatigue are also more prone to depression, anxiety, and cognitive issues. Over half of participants reported fatigue on some days, with over 10% experiencing it most days. Women are more likely than men to report frequent fatigue. The study also noted variations in fatigue frequency based on income and geographic location. Higher family incomes and more urbanized areas are associated with less frequent fatigue. The report highlights the widespread impact of fatigue but does not delve into its causes.
