Nepal's government has blocked major social media platforms like Facebook, X, and YouTube for failing to register with the authorities. These companies, along with about two dozen others, were repeatedly notified to officially register in the country. TikTok, Viber, and three other platforms are exempt as they have complied with the registration requirement. The government is also pushing for a bill to ensure responsible management and accountability of social platforms, requiring them to establish a local liaison office.
