New admin controls for adding invitations to Google Calendar

Google Calendar users previously had three options for handling event invitations, but administrators could only set the default. This update enhances Google Calendar's Admin console with more granular controls over invitation settings. Administrators can now specify which invitation options are available to end users within their organization. This provides greater control over unsolicited event invitations, especially from unknown senders. It also helps to mitigate potential security risks associated with malicious content in invitations. The new control is enabled by default as "From everyone" but can be customized per organizational unit or group. End users can then choose their preferred setting within the administrator-defined limitations. This feature will be available to all Google Workspace customers starting August 14, 2026. The rollout will be gradual, taking up to 15 days for full visibility. Resources are available in the Help Center for both administrators and end users.
