New data loss prevention capab... Note

New data loss prevention capabilities for file attachments and proximity conditions are generally available

Data Loss Prevention (DLP) now offers enhanced capabilities for non-Workspace file attachments. Organizations can now create DLP rules that target specific file parameters. These rules allow blocking sensitive file formats or identifying files with particular strings in their titles. Admins can configure rules based on file names, extensions, and custom MIME types. Proximity matching is also available to detect sensitive information within a specified character range. This feature enables rules like detecting account numbers near routing numbers. It helps reduce false positives by identifying data in context. The functionality supports common and custom MIME types, as well as system file categories. DLP rules can scan attachments in Gmail, Drive, and Chat for comprehensive protection. Admins can set granular distance settings for proximity matching, up to 1,000 characters. These new content conditions are accessible in the Admin console.
