Last year, the New York Metro Area boasted 394,300 tech workers, exceeding the Bay Area's 375,730. This change is partly attributed to mass layoffs in the Bay Area, which saw its tech talent workforce decline by 6% between 2022 and 2025. Conversely, New York's tech talent workforce experienced growth of over 8% during the same period. Despite this shift, experts believe the Bay Area will likely remain a central hub for AI and innovation. However, as the industry expands, talent is expected to spread to other key markets.
