Open-source and enterprise-ready: IBM Spectrum Symphony connectors for Google Cloud

Google Cloud now offers open-source IBM Spectrum Symphony HostFactory connectors. These connectors facilitate running high-performance computing (HPC) workloads on Google Compute Engine and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). They allow users to extend on-premises clusters to the cloud or deploy entire clusters within Google Cloud. These connectors are provided as custom cloud providers and can be deployed easily using Cluster Toolkit. Accenture and Aneo partnered to build and thoroughly test these enterprise-ready connectors. Accenture focused on development while Aneo performed rigorous testing at scale. The GKE connector can rapidly provision over 100,000 vCPUs across 5,000 compute pods within minutes. The solution leverages features like image preloading alongside custom compute classes for optimal performance and cost efficiency. The connectors offer features such as support for both VMs and containers and flexible consumption models. They include template-based provisioning, instance support, and event-driven management. Comprehensive logging and monitoring are integrated, with enterprise support provided by Google Cloud and Accenture. Users can access the connectors in the Google Cloud repository with documentation and support available.
