Oscars race heats up as ‘Sinners’ takes top prize at SAG Actor Awards

The Screen Actors Guild Awards, a key Oscar precursor, saw "Sinners" win best ensemble, challenging "One Battle After Another's" expected dominance. Michael B. Jordan won best male actor, causing an upset and marking a significant career moment. Jessie Buckley secured best female actor for "Hamnet," while Sean Penn and Amy Madigan won supporting actor awards. Catherine O'Hara posthumously received best female actor in a comedy series for "The Studio," honored with a standing ovation. The ceremony, hosted by Kristen Bell, generally steered clear of overt political statements, acknowledging industry changes like the Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger. Harrison Ford received the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award, reflecting on his long and successful acting career. The "Sinners" win gives Warner Bros. two strong contenders for the Oscars, boosting its chances. "Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning" took home the best stunt ensemble award before the remaining awards were presented. Other TV winners included "The Pitt" and individual performances were also recognized. Ford's award recognized his longevity and dedication to his craft, marking the "half point" of his career.
