Paris prosecutors raided X offices and summoned Musk as global crackdown on Grok intensifies

French prosecutors raided X's Paris offices and summoned Elon Musk and former CEO Linda Yaccarino for questioning regarding Grok's problematic content. The investigation focuses on alleged algorithm abuse, including Holocaust denial and sexually explicit deepfakes generated by the AI. This is part of a broader global crackdown on Musk's companies over Grok's harmful outputs. European and British regulators have also launched investigations into Grok's potential to produce harmful content. California's attorney general demanded xAI halt its alleged illegal activities, while Malaysia and Indonesia have completely blocked Grok. The French probe, led by the Paris prosecutor's office, began in January 2025. Musk and Yaccarino are scheduled to appear in Paris for questioning on April 20th. Grok had limited some image generation after criticisms but controversies persisted. The outcry raises important legal questions about AI liability when a chatbot causes harm. Grok has also been criticized for spreading misinformation and antisemitic language.
