PlayStation Ditched Hideo Kojima's 'Physint' on Budget Concerns, Missed Deadlines

Sony has reportedly withdrawn funding for Hideo Kojima's upcoming espionage game, Physint. Concerns cited include the game's escalating budget, missed development timelines, and uncertain profitability. A significant issue for Sony was the expectation that Physint would not remain exclusive to the PlayStation platform. Following this, Kojima Productions has secured a new publishing deal with Xbox. Xbox plans to release Physint on both Xbox consoles and PC. Additionally, Kojima Productions has acquired film and television rights for the project. Kojima announced this shift, expressing his determination to keep the important project alive after PlayStation's unexpected withdrawal. PlayStation confirmed their difficult decision to step away from funding the game. Microsoft has expressed honor in partnering with Kojima and plans broader collaborations beyond just gaming. This partnership with Xbox includes Physint's release on PC, a platform where Sony has recently shifted its strategy away from.
