Popular pet food recalled after 3 dogs got sick in latest U.S. salmonella scare

Oma's Pride, a raw pet food brand, has recalled 639 bags of its Woof Complete Canine Chicken Recipe due to salmonella contamination. The recall was initiated after a consumer complaint led to FDA testing, which confirmed the presence of salmonella. This incident follows other salmonella outbreaks this summer affecting human food products. Three dogs have reportedly fallen ill from the contaminated pet food. The recall specifically affects 6 lb bags with production and best by dates from January 27, 2026, to January 27, 2029. The affected product was distributed between February 12, 2026, and May 15, 2026, in several states including Arizona, California, and New York. Consumers should immediately stop feeding the recalled food to their dogs and dispose of it properly. Thorough cleaning and sanitization of pet food areas are recommended to prevent further contamination. Pet owners are advised to contact Oma's Pride for a refund and to monitor their dogs for salmonella symptoms. Infected pets can also transmit salmonella to humans, so handwashing after handling the food is crucial.
