Google Sheets has introduced persistent grouped fields for pivot tables, enhancing usability. Custom groupings of date, time, or numeric fields are now saved directly in the pivot table editor sidebar. This allows users to remove assigned grouped fields from their layout without losing the underlying configuration. These retained grouped fields can be easily re-added or modified later. The update also improves compatibility with Microsoft Excel files. Previously, Excel pivot table groupings were lost when imported into Google Sheets. Now, these custom groupings are accurately preserved during import and export. This feature is available to all Google Workspace and personal Google account users.
