Prevent downloading, printing, or copying files by combining Data Loss Prevention rules with Context-Aware Access conditions

Google Drive administrators can now combine Data Loss Prevention (DLP) rules with Context-Aware Access conditions to control access to sensitive content. This allows them to disable actions such as downloading, copying, and printing based on specific context conditions, such as a user's location or IP address. This provides more granular control over access permissions, as previously context-aware access could only restrict full application access. The feature is disabled by default and can be enabled per file by creating DLP rules with a Context-Aware Access access level. End users may experience restrictions on certain actions depending on the administrator's configuration. The rollout begins on July 31, 2024, and is available for Google Workspace Enterprise Standard and Plus, Education Fundamentals, Standard, Plus, and the Teaching and Learning upgrade, Frontline Standard, and Essentials: Enterprise and Enterprise Plus.
