PrimeXBT: Is this the start of a Bitcoin bull run? A 2022 signal appeared before the rally
Bitcoin experienced a significant price surge last week, climbing from $64,000 to nearly $80,000 within four sessions. Several external factors contributed to this rally, including a US Treasury announcement to double long-end liquidity support buybacks, a meeting between Donald Trump and crypto executives, and the SEC's Regulation Crypto Assets proposal. However, the weekly Bitcoin chart had been exhibiting a bullish divergence for months prior to these catalysts. This divergence, where Bitcoin made lower lows while its Relative Strength Index (RSI) made higher lows, indicates diminishing selling pressure despite falling prices. Such weekly divergences are rare and historically have preceded significant market shifts, much like the one seen in late 2022. The daily RSI also showed an extreme move, soaring from the low 40s to nearly 90 within a week, a pattern remarkably similar to the start of the January 2023 rally. While an overbought RSI doesn't automatically signal a sell, such extreme momentum shifts historically suggest the potential for new trend initiation. Beyond technical indicators, US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded their best week of 2026, attracting $1.92 billion in inflows, with Ethereum funds adding another $697.2 million. These sustained inflows of new money are considered a more robust indicator of a constructive case than short covering. PrimeXBT, a multi-asset broker, offers traders tools like Crypto Futures and CFDs with adjustable leverage and competitive pricing to capitalize on Bitcoin's volatility and potential sustained trends.
