Private Forecasters Warn "New Heat Event" Will Target US East Coast
The Mid-Atlantic region is currently experiencing a pleasant period of mild weather, with temperatures in the 70s. This follows earlier extreme heat this month, which saw temperatures reach into the 90s and even triple digits. Nights are also comfortable, with temperatures in the 60s and low 70s. However, this respite is temporary as another heat wave is anticipated soon. Private forecaster Commodity Wx Group predicts a new heat event targeting the East Coast from August 5-7. Bloomberg data indicates temperatures will start rising next week, peaking in the mid-to-upper 90s in early August. This upcoming heat wave is not expected to be as intense as the previous ones, which saw temperatures well into triple digits. Notably, temperatures in the Lower 48 have reached their seasonal peak and will now begin to decline. This relief is particularly welcome for customers on the PJM grid, who are currently facing some of the nation's highest power costs.
