The inaugural Python Packaging Council (PPC) election is underway with seventeen nominees vying for five open seats. The election will fill all five positions on the council. The top two vote-getters will serve two-year terms, designated as Cohort A. The next three highest vote-getters will serve one-year terms, designated as Cohort B. Future elections will alternate which cohort is up for re-election, ensuring staggered turnover. Nominations closed on August 11th, and candidates were announced on August 13th. Voters must affirm their intention to vote by August 25th, 2:00 pm UTC. All PSF Voting Members must affirm their membership to participate. Voting will commence on September 1st and conclude on September 15th. Eligible voters who have affirmed their participation will receive an email with their ballot from OpaVote.
