Quake Celebrates 30th Anniversary: New Official Episode With New Maps and Mechanics

Bethesda has released a new Quake episode called "Dawn of the Machine" to celebrate the game's 30th anniversary. This new campaign chapter features intense combat, complex level design, and surreal environments. Players will encounter re-imagined enemies like the Rocket Ogre and Blood Shambler, each with dangerous new attack patterns. The episode also introduces new weapons inspired by classic expansions, such as the Super Axe and Laser Cannon. A key gameplay mechanic involves shifting between dimensions to solve puzzles and traverse the world. Enemies may revive or transform, and unexpected rule changes will test players' adaptability. This new content is part of a series of campaign chapters developed by MachineGames in partnership with id Software. Created by a team called "Quake Club," these maps are more ambitious than original Quake levels due to modern tools like TrenchBroom. The 19 new levels include mechanics like time loops and dynamic teleportation systems that alter the environment without player intervention. This new episode is available for free in the remastered version of Quake for all owners across PC and current and last-gen consoles.
