Raspberry Pi Cyberdeck Turns a Teensy Into a Pocket Music Studio
Chrisicksix has designed a portable music production studio called a cyberdeck built around a Raspberry Pi 4 and a Teensy 4.1. This combination allows the device to function as a standalone groovebox without needing a laptop. A Waveshare DSI touchscreen displays the M8 headless tracker firmware interface. Power is supplied by a 10,000mAh battery pack, and input is handled by a Rii Mini X1 keyboard. This keyboard's QWERTY keys also double as piano keys for melody input. The entire setup is housed within a 3D-printed enclosure. The project is achievable in a single weekend due to readily available parts. There are two build options: an easy, no-solder route and a pro route involving soldering for improved internal organization. The core electronics work involves power distribution, display drivers, and microcontroller communication. This build is ideal for those interested in audio trackers or creating a portable music instrument. The project involves flashing firmware, connecting the display, and then wiring the power for safe testing. Upon completion, users will have a functional mini music workstation and a deeper understanding of how these components integrate.
