Google Workspace Updates

Record audio, video, and screencasts directly in Google Classroom

Google Classroom is gaining audio, video, and screencast recording capabilities to boost teaching and learning. The new feature allows teachers and students to record directly within Classroom, enhancing communication. Teachers can use it for private comments, announcements, assignment instructions, and providing feedback. Students can utilize the feature to submit multimodal responses to assignments and demonstrate understanding. This update aims to improve feedback efficiency and personalization, making it faster and more impactful. Recording improves student comprehension and connection, fostering motivation. This feature allows for enhanced accessibility and supports diverse learning styles. The functionality is accessible within various Classroom areas, including assignments and submissions. Admins have no control over this feature, and student usage of announcement features depends on teacher settings. The rollout starts on January 29, 2026, with an extended rollout period. This feature is available to Google Workspace Education Plus and Teaching and Learning add-on users.
