Google Slides is introducing a new, seamless way to record presentations directly within the Slides interface using Google Vids. A new "Record" option will appear in the right-hand menu, guiding users through a streamlined recording process. This integration offers advanced creation tools such as transcript-based editing and voiceover generation, enabling users to quickly transform slide decks into professional video assets. For those currently using the legacy Slides recording experience, both the old and new Vids recording options will be available. The legacy Slides recording feature will be relocated to the "View" menu. There are no specific admin or end-user settings required for this new integration. The feature will gradually roll out to Rapid Release domains starting August 20, 2026, and to Scheduled Release domains starting September 7, 2026. This new recording capability is available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts.
