Republicans embrace Trump's Venezuela operation

A new YouGov poll reveals a significant surge in Republican support for military intervention in Venezuela. The poll, conducted after an alleged operation and Trump's claims of control, shows approval levels far exceeding those from earlier surveys. Nearly three-quarters of Republicans now support invading Venezuela with military force. Even more Republicans, 78%, approve of capturing Maduro. Overall, more than half of the general U.S. population opposes using military force in Venezuela. A Reuters-Ipsos poll reflects similar partisan divides, with Republicans showing much greater support than Democrats. While there is agreement on new elections in Venezuela, Trump's focus is on rebuilding the oil industry. Trump has signaled this approach won't end with Venezuela, with Greenland also eyed, though public opinion there is different. The YouGov poll was conducted online, with a margin of error of approximately 4 percentage points.
