Retail bundle wars: Walmart is offering combined memberships with Sam’s Club. The price point is curious
Walmart has launched a new combined membership for Walmart+ and Sam's Club Plus at an annual cost of $120. This bundle significantly reduces the previous combined price of $218 for both individual memberships. The new offering provides members with exclusive deals, 2% Sam’s Cash on eligible purchases, and free delivery from both retailers. Additionally, members receive a 10-cent per gallon discount at over 17,000 gas stations and a subscription to Peacock or Paramount+. Existing members who were paying for both services can expect a prorated refund for their Walmart+ membership. Walmart subtly shaded a competitor, likely Amazon Prime, by noting its $139 annual retail membership with delivery. This move comes as Walmart experiences strong growth, with e-commerce sales up 23% year-over-year in Q2 FY2027. Walmart brand's international net sales increased by 12.8%, and Sam’s Club’s net sales grew by 8.8% year-over-year. While Walmart Inc. shares are up 5.27% this year, they have seen a 7.21% decline over the last six months. This new membership aims to offer greater value and attract more customers.
