Russia Accuses Ukrainian Intelligence Of Using ISIS For Assassination Plot
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced it thwarted an ISIS-planned terrorist attack in Moscow. This plot, directed by Ukrainian intelligence, aimed to target a high-ranking Russian Defense Ministry official. The FSB stated that four suspects, including an individual from a Central Asian country, were apprehended. These suspects were allegedly working under the direction of an ISIS member named Saidakbar Gulomov, who was coordinating from abroad. Gulomov supposedly provided the perpetrator with funds, target information, and bomb-making materials smuggled into Russia via drones. The FSB also linked Gulomov and Ukrainian intelligence to the December 2024 assassination of Lieutenant General Kirillov. According to the FSB, this foiled attack highlights the cooperation between Ukraine and international terrorist groups. This incident follows a March 2024 attack on a Moscow concert hall, for which Russian authorities also blamed both ISIS-Khorasan and Ukrainian intelligence. The Russian Investigative Committee concluded that the concert hall attack was orchestrated by unfriendly state security services using international terrorists.
