Scaling the autonomous network: Introducing the Data Steward and Core Network Agents

Google Cloud is evolving its Autonomous Network Operations framework to enable zero-touch telecom operations. This framework now includes the Autonomous Data Steward and the Core Network VoLTE Agent. The Autonomous Data Steward, powered by Gemini, manages data access with a zero-copy architecture, reducing storage costs and enabling real-time telemetry. It automates DataOps processes using natural language understanding and dynamic data pipelines. The Core Network VoLTE Agent proactively manages voice quality using real-time monitoring, root cause analysis, and automated recommendations. One NZ is implementing the VoLTE Agent to enhance its voice services and move toward autonomous operations. These advancements address the data access challenges hindering agent scalability in telecom networks. The framework accelerates Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) for operations teams and deployment times for data teams. Google Cloud is open-sourcing its methodologies to allow operators to build customized agentic workflows. The goal is to move from reactive monitoring to self-healing networks that automate issue resolution. This collaborative effort with Future Connections marks a significant step towards fully autonomous network operations.
