Scoop: Rep. Analilia Mejia launches super PAC to fund more progressive upsets
Representative Analilia Mejia, following her primary victory, is launching a new super PAC. This initiative aims to support other progressive candidates facing better-funded establishment rivals. The super PAC, named "Unbought, Unbossed PAC," will focus on training and funding working-class and underrepresented community leaders. It also plans to offer voter education and protection resources. Mejia's own campaign was considered an upset, as she was significantly outraised by her opponents. Her victory partly resulted from external spending against a rival. The new PAC will exclusively back candidates rejecting corporate PAC money. These candidates must also support a ban on members of Congress trading stocks. Mejia believes this effort will cultivate a new class of unbought leaders. She emphasizes the importance of a Congress that reflects the diversity of America.
