Scoop: Republican midterms convention speakers revealed
President Trump and key allies will headline the upcoming GOP midterm convention in Dallas. The convention's primary goal is to energize Trump voters for the November elections. Trump himself is scheduled to speak on both nights of the September 9-10 event. Vice President Vance will also deliver a keynote address. Other notable speakers include Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Congressional leaders like Speaker Mike Johnson and Senator Tim Scott will also attend. Some competitive Republican candidates, including Senators Susan Collins and John Sununu, are notably absent. The strategy involves branding Democrats as socialists to mobilize the Republican base. Many candidates in crucial races will share the stage with Trump, potentially linking them to his lower approval ratings. Approximately 100 Republican lawmakers and candidates are expected to participate. The event aims to counter concerns about lower Trump voter turnout compared to previous elections. Numerous non-politicians are also slated to address the convention.
