Senate Republicans' top super PAC, the Senate Leadership Fund (SLF), is significantly increasing its spending in Michigan by an additional $6 million. This new expenditure is part of a larger $12 million commitment this month aimed at defending Republican leader John Thune's Senate majority. The early spending by SLF, typically reserved for later in the election cycle, highlights the importance of the Michigan race. The $6 million campaign will utilize television and digital ads to target Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed and support Republican Mike Rogers. With this latest investment, SLF's total spending in Michigan now stands at $51 million. Republicans reportedly prefer facing El-Sayed over his primary opponent, Haley Stevens, believing he offers a better opportunity to flip the Senate seat. In addition to Michigan, SLF has also allocated $2 million for Senator Dan Sullivan's reelection bid in Alaska and plans to spend $4 million in Iowa to support Representative Ashley Hinson's Senate campaign. These new funds bring SLF's total commitment for the election cycle to $354 million, surpassing their initial $342 million announcement. SLF states this aggressive early spending is intended to define what they describe as "Far-Left Democrats backed by Chuck Schumer."
