Seamlessly join meetings on Google Meet hardware with “Connect room”

A new feature called Connect room is being introduced to Google Meet hardware. This feature simplifies starting meetings in conference rooms by using ultrasound proximity detection. Instead of manually entering meeting codes, your personal device will detect nearby Google Meet hardware. When you open the Google Meet green room on your laptop, it will automatically identify the room. A single click will then launch the meeting on the room hardware, and your laptop will enter Companion mode. This allows you to join meetings without missing any part of the conversation. Connect room also enables users to take over empty booked rooms or book available rooms with one click. It streamlines joining private meetings and meetings not listed on the room's calendar. The feature will be available for users on the Rapid Release track with devices in the Early Preview Rooms program starting December 2, 2025. Admins need to ensure their domain is on Rapid Release, devices are enrolled in EPR, and Proximity Detection and in-room booking are enabled. End users simply need to ensure their laptop microphone is selected and click "Connect room" when prompted.
