Seth Michael Larson: New ROM dumping tool for SNES & Super Famicom from Epilogue

Epilogue has announced pre-orders for the SN Operator, a new ROM backup tool for SNES and Super Famicom games. The device will be available for $60 USD plus shipping, giving players a way to play SNES games legally. This is a cheaper alternative to buying the console itself, currently priced around $120 on eBay. Those who want to play but don't care about ownership could opt for Nintendo Switch Online's SNES library. These tools are crucial for archiving games and enabling legal emulation on modern devices. The author has previously used Epilogue's GB Operator to archive Game Boy ROMs. They personally won't purchase the SN Operator due to not owning SNES games. Epilogue's website hints at an upcoming Operator, possibly for the N64, which would also not be useful to the author. The author is hoping for a future SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive Operator device.
